The Beach Boys - Clowes Hall, Indianapolis

The Beach Boys

More than 40 years later, this is still among my top five all-time favorites.

"Carl Wilson sang most of the leads, brother Brian having forsaken the tour circuit to stay home and write some of pop music’s best songs. Denis Wilson positioned himself at the far left of the stage, content to tinkle on an electric piano instead of his usual drum kit, the victim of a broken hand on the mend. Cousin Mike Love was on the other end, all dressed in white, the guru tragicomic rapping to the crowd, joking about the old days: 'and people said our lyrics weren’t relevant.' "
